Rediscovering our innate ability to communicate telepathically with animals is a spiritual journey. This journey prompts us to examine hidden depths of our being to identify what may be hindering fruitful exploration and recovery.

Since I began teaching in the 1970s, the results of helping people how to open to their ability to communicate with animals have been overwhelmingly positive. As telepathic communication with animals became more widespread, I began hearing more stories of how individuals using this skill upset people and animal companions.

I taught a bonus class to the graduates of our Basic and Advanced Animal Whispering Courses with The Shift Network. We practiced a new exercise that I recently developed. This exercise helps participants to accurately differentiate their thoughts and feelings from those of the animal they communicate with. Our volunteer animal helper was Ziggy, my 14-year-old glossy black cat.

People often feel dismayed or guilty when they have inadvertently participated in an animal’s death. Once people tap into their native ability to communicate with animals telepathically, they discover that animals may have very different perspectives on what occurred.

Beloved elder animal communicator Anita Curtis died on March 9, 2025. She practiced professionally for over three decades.

Amy Richardson wrote this article for the July 1993 issue after attending an animal communication course I taught. It is a wonderful example of how much we can learn from our wise animal friends when we listen to them.
